FHS College and Career Academy- Career Ready Canes Class

On November 18-22, 2019, FHSCCA held a Career Ready Canes program for Seniors. This class was made up of 15 Seniors at FHS who were preselected to participate. The class was a week long learning opportunity focusing on interview skills, financial literacy, an 10 hour OSHA safety training, work ethic, dining etiquette and mock interviews. The completion ceremony was held at Wiregrass Technical College on Friday, November 22, 2019 where all students received their OSHA certificates from Christy Cobb, Economic Development Coordinator at Wiregrass Technical College. Hal Wiley gave each participant a completion certificate for this program as well. A luncheon was held with some industry and community partners where they could put their skills to the test in a real world professional setting.

The Career Ready Canes program was developed as a result of meetings with FHSCCA administration and instructors, local business and industry, and Wiregrass Technical College. The goal was to create better leaders in our community and grow a better workforce. The program will be offered again in the Spring for Seniors and we hope that this class will continue to grow and becoming a vital part of the FHSCCA experience our students Senior year.

We are so proud of these awesome Seniors! Thank you to all of our partners that came throughout this week to teach, interview, support and be apart of this awesome week. We are Cane Ready!
