Dr. L'Vita Jordan
Dr. L’Vita Jordan received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Math and Science from Fort Valley State University, in Fort Valley, GA, Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University, in Sarasota, FL. She is currently teaching 8th grade mathematics at Ben Hill Middle School. A strong advocate of hands-on, inquiry-based learning, she involves her students in a variety of standards-based, problem-solving, and technology-infused activities that provide them with opportunities to achieve academically in the world of mathematics. She is very enthusiastic about working with middle school students and she has 25+ years of experience.
Middle school students are at the age when they are just starting to consider who they are and where they want to go in life, and she believe that this is one of the most important periods in personal development. Adolescent students are fragile; they thirst for acceptance, encouragement, and recognition, and their hopes can be easily dashed with a wrong word or a disappointing outcome. These characteristics bring a positive challenge to the prospect of teaching in a middle school; she wants to be a positive role model and “cheerleader” for her students, to be a listening ear, a knowledgeable resource and a collaborator for problem solving in class. She also wants to give her students some level of independence in relationship to the work that they are doing in class; at this age, the majority of students desire more responsibility and control over their own success. She wants to provide as many opportunities as possible for the students to build these skills while they are in her class.
Motto: “Students do not care what you know, until they know that you care.”
