Mrs. Lea Anne McNease Davis


Lea Anne graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1971. She was an Honor Graduate, and she received the Art Medal. She was a proud Purple Hurricane football and basketball cheerleader for four years. She was involved in Future Teachers of America, Future Homemakers of America, and Tr-Hi-Y, a Christian club. She graduated from Valdosta State University in the summer of  1974 and began teaching third grade at Ben Hill County Elementary in August. She received a Masters of Education from Georgia Southwestern in 1976. She began teaching second grade in 1978 and continued teaching second grade until 1999. In the fall of 1999. she began teaching English students of other languages in kindergarten through the twelfth grade while persuing her ESOL endorsement.She has continued to teach ESOL classes since 1999.She was nominated for Teacher of the Year at Ben Hill Primary School in 2001. After retiring with 46 years of teaching in the Ben Hill County Schools, she continues teaching ESOL classes part-time.

Lea Anne is married to Howard Davis, and her three children are: Dr. Byron Paul (Jane Ellen) Reese,D.C., Lee and Jaclyn Davis, and Jay Davis. Lea Anne and Howard have six grandchildren. She and her family attend the First Presbyterian Church of Fitzgerald where she has served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher, Circle leader and choir member. She is a fourth generation member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and has been an active member since 1976. She is a member of the Boy Scouts of America and was a leader when her son was in Boy Scouts. She is an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher organization. She enjoys baking cookies and cakes, teaching, reading to learn, sewing, arts and crafts, watching sports, helping people, flowers and working in her yard. Favorite places she likes to visit are her grandchildrens' homes, historical sites and towns, family homes, and the beach.
