GIFTED & TALENTED EDUCATION PROGRAM
INSTRUCTIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The goal of educational services for gifted students in Ben Hill County is to provide for: the extension of learning opportunities, the developement of individual potential, the enhancement of the student's self-concept and the advancement toward becoming an independent learner through differentiated curricula beyond the opportunities and experiences of the regular classroom.

Susan Henry, Gifted Coordinator
Susan graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1984. She attended Georgia Southwestern University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She began working for the Ben Hill County School System in 1988. She received a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University. She served as first grade teacher for 24 years and was nominated as Ben Hill Primary Teacher of the Year in 2001. Susan taught one year in Kindergarten as an EIP teacher. She served as Instructional Coach at Ben Hill Primary School from 2013-2020. She served as PreK-2 RTI Coordinator during the 2020-2021 school year. Beginning the 2021-2022 school year, Susan now serves as Gifted Education Coordinator. Susan is an active member of Arbor Baptist Church, where she serves in the Children's Ministry and is coordinator for the Backpack Blessings Food Ministry. She is married to Paul, and they have a daughter, Aubree. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
