To educate the community and its students (with TLC) about the healthy choices that Nutrition Services provides. To become recognized as a part of the educational day within Ben Hill County School District.
Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Program

Ben Hill County Nutrition Department is happy to announce we have became a recipient of the USDA Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Program. For the last two weeks students have been given the option of fresh Georgia Grown peaches, strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, and yellow squash. We are looking forward to seeing what other GA grown items we can have available to our students during the changing seasons.

Ben Hill Elementary School has received the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) federal grant offered by the United States Department of Agriculture. This grant is designed for elementary schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program, with priority given to schools with a high percentage of students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.A fresh fruit or vegetable is served as a snack outside of regular school meals and is provided to all students who are enrolled in the schools that are awarded the grant. A wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables is served, enabling students to experience new and different healthy snacks.Ben Hill Elementary will begin this awesome Snack time on Wednesday, November 29th.. The snacks will be distributed every Wednesday and Friday for the remainder of the school year.
