Bibb County Pre-K Registration 2010-2011
Registration for the 2010-2011 Bibb County School District’s Pre-Kindergarten Program runs from February 1, 2010 until February 26, 2010.
"Quality Pre-K classrooms provide eager young learners with early academic and social skills that prepare them to be effective learners in kindergarten, says Director of Early Childhood Programs Dr. Erin Weaver. Bibb County’s pre-kindergarten classrooms are language-rich environments that lay the foundation for learning to read and future academic success."

Reduction in Work Days for All Employees – January-June 2010
On January 25, 2010, the Board of Education approved a reduction in work days for selected groups of employees (regardless of funding sources). Superintendent Sharon Patterson will be taking a reduction in her salary for FY2010 equal to five days of pay but will continue to work her full contract.
By reducing employee work days, expenditures for the district will be reduced for the remainder of the year from the general fund by approximately $2.7 million.
To allow staff members to have some time for school close out, the last two days of the 2009-2010 school year – May 20 & 21, 2010 – would be structured so half the day would encompass exams and other instructional activities. Students would then be dismissed and the second half of the day would be for the staff to complete year end procedures.

Magnet School Application Process
The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for Alexander II Math & Science Magnet School, Burdell-Hunt Communications Magnet School, Vineville Fine Arts Academy, Miller Magnet Middle School, Central High's Fine Arts and International Baccalaureate Programs, Hutchings Career Center, Northeast Health Science Magnet, Southwest Law Academy, and Westside Pre-Engineering Magnet.
A separate application must be completed for each school, and for each child. Forms must be hand-delivered by an adult or sent by U.S. Mail to each school. Elementary magnet applications may be picked up at any elementary school, and middle magnet applications may be picked up at any elementary school or Miller Magnet Middle School. Applications for the high school programs may be downloaded from their school web sites.

Bibb County School H1N1 Vaccination Program Schedule
Beginning Monday, December 7, 2009, H1N1 flu vaccinations will be offered to students in Bibb County schools in partnership with the North Central Health District and the Macon-Bibb County Health Department. Only students who have signed consent forms from parents or guardians will be given the vaccine. As of Thursday, December 3, almost 4,300 forms (either for the nasal spray or shot vaccine) had been submitted.
